about

The wait is finally over! Olav Larsen & The Alabama Rodeo Stars are back in town with a new record!!!

"Memory Lane" is their third long player, following the two critically acclaimed albums "Love's Come To Town" and "Sad & Happy Sing-A-Longs". Eleven new songs have found their way on to the new album - which by the way deals with the everlasting mystery called love seen from different interesting angles.

Olav Larsen was raised in the Norwegian town of Sandnes and introduced to his father’s music collection of blues greats including Blind Willie McTell and Robert Johnson which again led to Bob Dylan, Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen. As Olav began to fine-tune his own tastes it was a healthy diet of Guy Clark, John Prine, Steve Goodman and Townes Van Zandt that he first feasted on, before turning his attentions more recently to Bright Eyes, Will Oldham and Howe Gelb among others.

Overnight sensation is way to describe the impact Olav Larsen & The Alabama Rodeo Stars made with the release of a surprise debut CD that established him as a force to be reckoned with almost overnight.
When "Love’s Come To Town" was unveiled on his home turf in Norway it seemed as if it woke some reviewers from a deep slumber. It earned more “wows” than any wonder of the world.

It took almost five years in the making before "Memory Lane" would see the light of day. "Personal issues" are stated as being the reason for this long awaited release. Even though the sound is more mature the band is still a barrel-house of pure Americana. Fiddle, harmonica, banjo, pedal-steel, piano, Telecaster, bass, pump organ and heavenly duet vocals, all together tight and happy, with roots springing from Ray Davies and Mark Olson to Lloyd Cole and Arlo Guthrie. Olav is a quirky songster with a light, effervescent touch and a gift for subtle touches in the studio.
